The Stork’s Nest was Indiana’s first surrogacy agency to open focusing exclusively on gestational surrogacy, offering our services to heterosexual parents, single parents, an LGBT parents. We are a boutique matching agency that aims to match intended parents and gestational carriers within close proximity. Our mission is to build strong, successful families through our detailed screening process of the intended parents and gestational surrogate to ensure the long-term well-being of all individuals involved in the process, including the future child(ren). One thing that sets us apart from so many other agencies is that we complete all medical and psychological screening prior to matching gestational carriers with intended parents. This allows the gestational carrier and intended parents to create a bonding relationship immediately without worry that it will fail later in the process due to the inability to pass medical and/or psychological screening. That can be emotionally devastating and we aim to avoid that for our intended parents and gestational carriers. Not only does our unique process nearly eliminate the risk of emotional turmoil if a match falls through because of failed screening after matching, but it also eliminates costs that the intended parents could incur by testing gestational carriers until they find one that passes her screening. We take on that risk so our intended parents do not have to. Our screening includes all psychological testing (including an MMPI and/or PAI and counseling session for the carrier and her partner/husband), medical testing (ultrasounds, blood testing, STI testing, sonograms, and any other necessary procedures), background checks on gestational carrier and her partner/husband, and her obstetrical records and insurance are reviewed. Our intended parents are required to complete background checks, mental health testing, and counseling. We aim to provide a safe and successful journey for everyone involved in the process. Our team has over 30 years of experience in medical, legal, ethics, business, and assisted reproduction matters. The founder of the company is Amanda D. Sapp, RN, MSN, Esq. Amanda graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science and worked as a neonatal and pediatric nurse for many years. During her time as a nurse, she attended the University of Indianapolis and graduated top of her class with a Master’s of Science in Nursing. Amanda also decided to pursue her law degree during her nursing career. During law school Amanda graduated with a concentration in health law. She also obtained a year long fellowship certificate through Indiana University Health that focused on medical ethics where she completed research to be published in academic journals. Additionally, Amanda is certified as a registered mediator by the Indiana Supreme Court. While in law school, Amanda obtained an internship with a focus on assisted reproductive technology law. It was then that she had found her calling. After working in the legal field for a few years, Amanda decided to open the agency since Indiana did not have one that focused on gestational surrogacy. Helping individuals build families through assisted reproduction has become a passion of Amanda’s that gives her an endless feeling of joy, similar to that of her very rewarding experience as a nurse.
